Prayer vigil for Cory slated in Edsa Shrine

MANILA, Philippines -- Supporters of cancer-stricken former President Corazon Aquino will hold a 40-hour prayer vigil at the Edsa Shrine in Quezon City tonight.

The prayer offering will be done before the Blessed Sacrament "Quarant'ore for Cory Aquino" at the Perpetual Adoration around 7 p.m.

A Holy Mass for the Mrs. Aquino would end on Aug. 1 around 12:15 p.m. It will be followed by a rosary procession.

Mrs. Aquino, known for her role in ousting the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos in the historic People Power Revolution in 1986, is now bed-ridden at the Makati Medical Center due to her long battle with colon cancer. - By Dennis Carcamo (Philstar News Service, www.philstar.com)
