Senate employee infected with A(H1N1)
A Senate employee has tested positive for the influenza A(H1N1) virus, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile confirmed Friday. Enrile declined to identify the employee, but he said the patient is from the Senate Economic Planning Office. He said the first A(H1N1) case of the Senate had contact with one of the three confirmed cases in the House of Representatives during a legislative meeting. One of the three cases at the House is the country's first A(H1N1) death. At a press conference, Enrile said there is no need to suspend work at the Senate. He said the leadership has started precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease at the upper chamber. He said employees will be subjected to regular temperature checks.
