'Tie a yellow ribbon for Cory'

MANILA, Philippines – As former President Corazon Aquino continues her ordeal with colon cancer, her supporters likewise maintain their steadfast support and continue to pray for her recovery.

According to a TV report, Aquino’s supporters urged people to "tie a yellow ribbon" as a gesture of their support to the former chief executive, who has been confined at the Makati Medical Center for about a month now. This, according to them, would also serve as a reminder of Aquino's role as an icon of democracy in the country.

"Rekindle the flame of democracy that Cory began. Tie a yellow ribbon today," the report said, quoting a text message from a supporter.

The former president was diagnosed with colon cancer in March 2008 and is currently under a 24-hour observation by doctors at the Makati Medical Center.
